Cape Fear Museum

Exploring the history, science, and cultures of the Lower Cape Fear since 1898. A Smithsonian Affiliate and department of New Hanover County. Just opened a brand-new Grace Street facility (Aug 18, 2026) after a decade of planning — more than double the exhibit space, a 60-seat planetarium, the hands-on Science Matters gallery, and the Port City Play space for young children. Open Mon-Sat 9am-5pm, Sun 1pm-5pm. Admission: $16 adults, $10 youth (3-17), free for kids 2 and under; 50% off for New Hanover County residents, $1 off for seniors/students/military/teachers, and the first Sunday of each month is free for NHC residents.
