Friends and co-workers Martin de Jongh, Ole Pederson, Chris Worden, and Thomas Varnum are partners in Mad Mole Brewing. Ole and Martin have been homebrewing for the better part of the past decade and wanted to share their passion for beer. They are looking forward to bringing more great beer to Wilmington. The name is a combination of the “M” from Martin and Ole’s name. Adding "mad" to "mole" is a nod to “mad scientist”. As brewing is a science more than a guessing game.

Outer Dunes Brewing is an oasis located in the Porters Neck area of Wilmington. Adjacent to Market Street, but tucked away in the oaks, Outer Dunes is home to a huge outdoor Beer Garden, a rustic Tap House, and a private indoor Event Venue. Broomtail was founded by husband and wife team, Barry and Lisa Owings in 2014 as a way to share their love of brewing, using her Artistic Ability and his Scientific Expertise to develop consistent, high-quality, delicious beer. Barry (a water chemist and formulator by profession) began home brewing in 1990 with his friend Randy Shelton. The journey toward learning the processes – mechanically, chemically, and biologically to not only develop delicious beer but to duplicate the recipes and statistically prove consistency had begun.

Wrightsville Beach has grown and evolved almost as fast as the beer and wine industry has over the past few decades. Lighthouse Beer & Wine opened its doors for the first time in the winter of 1998 under the helm of a foolish young man, fresh out of college, named Jason Adams. Jason was the brain child for this new uncharted territory of a business model at the time called a bottle shop. Features outdoor seating and is pet friendly.

DrumTrout Brewing Co. is a neighborhood brewery from longtime Wilmington locals Joe and Ali Bagwell, pairing Joe's brewing background with Ali's service-industry experience — Wilmington beer fans may recognize them from their time at Bill's Brewing Company. The taproom blends natural wood with teal floors, opening onto a patio with picnic tables, Adirondacks, heaters, and fire pits for year-round hangs. Twelve rotating taps plus wine, seltzer, cider, and kombucha are joined by a full calendar of local music, art, and food truck nights — family- and dog-friendly, always.

The building, formerly owned by Coca Cola Inc and used to bottle Electric Soda and Orange Crush, has been preserved and restored to highlight its rich history.
